A rumor surfaced on Friday morning indicating that ESPN is choosing to part ways with a few of its presenters. Many have been taken aback by this, as some well-known names are among those being let go.

Below is a summary of those who are moving on:

Max Kellerman, #1
Max Kellerman has played a significant role at ESPN over the years. He co-hosted the network’s most popular show with Stephen A. Smith for a considerable amount of time. Following “First Take,” Kellerman worked as an assistant on NBA broadcasts and cohosted a radio program with Jay Williams and Keyshawn Johnson.

Second, Jeff Van Gundy
Jeff Van Gundy was a prominent voice on ESPN’s NBA broadcast, as most people are aware. In addition to Mark Jackson and Mike Breen, thetrio worked for the network for many years, covering many primetime matchups.

3 Keyshawn Johnson
Keyshawn Johnson transitioned into broadcasting for his next phase of his career after his NFL career ended. In addition to talking about football, he has assisted with the coverage of several other sports while working for the network.

The three-time Super Bowl champion’s 15-year tenure comes to an end with this firing. A year after his playing days ended, in 2007, he signed his first contract with the company.

#4 Jalen Rose
Jalen Rose is another former athlete affected by these layoffs. The seasoned NBA guard joined the network in 2007. He once had a show of his own, but last year it was canceled.

Rose’s pay has played a part in his termination. The network is letting go of some of its more expensive employees in an effort to reduce costs. Newer analysts like Richard Jefferson and JJ Redick will have more opportunities as a result of moving on from players like Rose.

#5 LaPonso Ellis
LaPonso Ellis was an NBA player for eleven years. After playing on the court, he transitioned into broadcasting. He moved to ESPN after serving as a Notre Dame broadcaster for a while. Since joining them in 2009, Ellis has mostly served as a college basketball analyst.
