Ben Johnson, the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, has been persuaded to extend his contract by Dan Campbell.
Five teams, including the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders, had expressed interest in hiring Johnson as their head coach. Johnson is regarded as one of the NFL’s most inventive playcallers.
Johnson, though, has decided to stick with the Lions and has stated that he wants to win a Super Bowl with the group. Many in the NFL were taken aback by Johnson’s decision, as he presumably declined a substantially larger salary and may have forfeited his opportunity to become a head coach.
