IOWA CITY — Iowa football will start the 2024 season as the No. 25 team in the country.
The preseason Associated Press Poll, released Monday, has the Hawkeyes as one of six ranked Big Ten teams at the start of the season.
No. 2 Ohio State, No. 3 Oregon, No. 8 Penn State, No. 9 Michigan and No. 23 USC are ahead of Iowa. (Only one of those teams — Ohio State on Oct. 5 — is on the Hawkeyes’ 2024 schedule.)
Other Big Ten teams receiving votes include Washington, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
Monday’s poll release marks the fifth time in the last six years at Iowa has been ranked in the preseason AP Poll. Iowa ended the year as a ranked opponent on all five occasions, with final rankings ranging from No. 15 to No. 24.
