As the CFP rankings remain unchanged, Ohio State is still ranked first, followed by Georgia, Michigan, and Florida State.

The College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday night showed Ohio State as the top team, followed by Florida State, Georgia, and Michigan. The selection committee did not make any changes to its initial eight-team list.

Washington came in fifth, with Pac-12 rivals Oregon, Texas, and Alabama rounding out the top eight.

The first CFP rankings from last week had only one losing team the previous weekend. After losing to Oklahoma State, Oklahoma fell from ninth to seventeenth place. The Cowboys are now in 15th place.

At Rutgers, Ohio State was behind at the half but eventually pulled away, which was sufficient to maintain the Buckeyes’ lead in the rankings.

North Carolina State’s athletic director and committee chairman Boo Corrigan stated, “They keep playing well.” “Very active group. TreVeyon Henderson, a running back, is back and has scored over 100 yards in the past two games. His return and their top-five defence help them overall.”

On January 1, the CFP semifinals will take place at the Rose and Sugar bowls. Houston will host the national championship game on January 8.

This weekend, when Georgia and Michigan play their highest-ranked opponents to date, has the potential to upset the top four.

The committee’s ninth-ranked team, Mississippi, is the guest of the Bulldogs. Tenth-ranked Penn State is the place the Wolverines visit. On Saturday, Washington will host No. 18 Utah, a team that is ranked, in Seattle.

Louisville (8-1) of the Atlantic Coast Conference is the lowest-ranked team from a Power Five conference with one loss.

The four-team playoff, which will feature 12 teams next year, has never included a team with two losses.

At number 23, Tulane is still the best-ranked team from outside the Power Five conferences. The champion from the so-called Group of Five conferences ranked highest by the committee is invited to the New Year’s Six bowls.
