Pitching matchups, Cleveland Guardians vs. Texas Rangers series preview.

Rangers update: Going into their game against Toronto on Thursday night, they were riding a five-game winning streak. Following the All-Star break, they swept the Guardians in three games, outscoring them 20-9. The Rangers were one game out of first place in the AL West going into Tuesday night.

Update on the Guardians: They just returned from a brutal 2–5 road trip against the Giants and Angels. Three of those games ended in walk-off losses, two to the Giants and one to the Angels. With 15 games remaining, they were 7 1/2 games out of first place and their Tragic Number (for elimination) had dropped to nine. In his last five starts versus the Rangers, Giolito is 3-1.
