Other than Walker Zimmerman and Hany Mukhtar, names to be aware of for the Nashville SC MLS roster in 2024.

With two of the greatest players in Major League Soccer heading into 2024—Hany Mukhtar, the 2022 MVP, and Walker Zimmerman, who have combined to be named to the MLS Best XI for the previous three seasons—Nashville SC is expected to perform well.

The core of Mukhtar-Zimmerman is still in place, and Gary Smith—the only coach the team has ever had—has returned. However, the remaining players on the team, along with a few offseason additions, may be what separates Nashville in its fifth MLS season from merely being a playoff matchup to a title contender.

Before Thursday’s CONCACAF Champions Cup opener at Moca FC and Sunday’s Major League Soccer opener at Geodis Park against the New York Red Bulls, here is a breakdown of Nashville’s roster:

Without a doubt, Mukhtar is on this team. Notwithstanding a second-half slump that was a microcosm of Nashville’s entire season, he led Nashville with 15 goals and 11 assists in 2023. As much as any team can rely on any one player, Nashville has historically relied on Mukhtar’s offensive. They are hoping that this year will be different.
