The weekend softball schedule includes a top-five matchup between the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners and the No. 5 Texas Longhorns. Oklahoma leads the Big 12 standings at 12-0, while Texas is tied for second with a 9-3 conference record. The Sooners recently completed a three-game sweep of Kansas, outscoring the Jayhawks 30-4. They were particularly dominant in the series’ second game, defeating Kansas 17-0 by run rule. Texas just traveled to Oklahoma State and went 1-2 against the Cowgirls. After dropping the first game, the Longhorns rallied for a 2-1 victory thanks to Citlaly Gutierrez’s excellent pitching performance. They then cancelled the last game of the series.
