When Newcastle plays Manchester United, Eddie Howe might start the “magnificent” 20-year-old.

When Newcastle United visits Manchester United on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup semifinals, they will be looking to get back to winning ways. The Magpies kick off at Old Trafford at 8:15 p.m. GMT against the Red Devils, whom they lost to in the competition final the previous season.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe will probably make some changes to his starting lineup despite the challenging opposition in preparation for the Premier League this coming weekend.

Howe might make a change at the back, where Tino Livramento will probably get another go following his brilliant performance in the Carabao Cup last time out.

The Newcastle summer signing had only played 24 minutes in two Premier League games off the bench before the Manchester City match.

Livramento did not let down, containing the £100 million star Jack Grealish and producing a superb stop against Matheus Nunes in the closing stages.

The 20-year-old was called “magnificent” by Newcastle legend Alan Shearer on X after the team defeated the treble winners 1-0 at full time.

Livramento will have to wait it out in Newcastle.

Livramento has since played 21 more competitive minutes in the Premier League, both as an off-the-bench player.

It’s true that Livramento finds it challenging to get starts ahead of the experienced player because Kieran Trippier is also a member of the Newcastle team.

But with a significant Carabao Cup match approaching, the young player will probably start in Trippier’s place.

Livramento will be eager to build on his brilliant performance against Man City and demonstrate to everyone why Newcastle originally paid £32 million for his services.
